Creating Hope Act of 2011

I just read about this bit of bi-partisan legislation today, being introduced in the Senate by Bob Casey (D-PA). One of the co-sponsors is our own Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio.

The bill itself would essentially create a voucher system to help encourage Big Pharma companies to research and develop treatments for so-called “rare diseases”, those that affect less than 200,000 Americans (yet, put together, affect nearly 20 million, two-thirds of which are children).

More can be read about this bit of legislation at Bob Casey’s website here:

For those of you in Ohio please write Sen. Brown to thank him for his support of this bill. If you are not from Ohio, please write your Senator (or Congressman/woman) to make sure they support it.
