I mentioned in an earlier post that the Creating Hope Act 2011 had been introduced in the Senate by Robert Casey (D-PA), co-sponsored by Scott Brown (R-MA), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), and Stuart Smalley (D-MN). Now a similar bill has been brought up in the House by Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), along with Reps. G.K. Butterfield (D-NC), Sue Myrick (R-NC), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).
The Senate bill is S. 606, while the House bill is H.R. 3059.
More information can be found here.
I ask that you please contact your local Representative or Senator, and ask (or in Ohio’s case, thank) them for support of this bill. For those in my area, you can contact Rep. Mike Turner here, and Sen. Brown here.
On a related note, in August I sent an email to Sen. Brown thanking him for the support of the bill, and inviting him to Armand’s Miracle Treat Day fundraiser. I had a conversation with a staffer in Sen. Brown’s office today, thanking me for my interest in the bill, and apologizing that they received my email too late to attend the fundraiser, but if there was some way to help in the future, to please let them know, and that Sen. Brown was committed to this particular cause.
